UPDATE

SPRING 2022

Let’s talk about “space.”

I don’t mean “outer-space” as in planets, stars, or rocket ships.

I mean the space in our lives that we fill up with energy, effort and relationships. I’m talking about the time we have that we fill with the things we do & the people we know.

This past year I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the space we create at Summit. While this space includes social media, podcasts and communication, it also includes the time we traditionally choose to set aside on Sundays. This is the traditional time that faith communities choose to gather. We gather with the purpose of connecting with God and connecting with each other. This is the time we set aside to explore our understanding of God, faith and ourselves.

There is a long poem in the Bible called “The Teacher” but it has also been transliterated as “The Gatherer.” Most of us within the English speaking Christian tradition are probably more familiar with the title “Ecclesiastes.”

The author of this book describes a large part of the human experience as “seeking and exploring everything under the sky.” (Ecclesiastes 1:13)

It doesn’t take a lot of convincing for us to realize that every aspect of our lives is affected by the human drive to explore and connect.

We desire a deep connection with god, people and nature.

It’s also easy to see that every technological marvel we enjoy, from coffee to the internet, is a direct result of the spirit of exploration written into our DNA.

It is my desire that the Space we create at Summit be a safe space to connect and explore.

So as we look towards our future together… a future committed to connecting & exploring, you can expect to see some creative changes we hope can help us create this special space.

We understand church can sometimes feel strange & impersonal, but we don’t want to be that kind of church.

Whether you are young, old, tattooed or not, Atheist, or Christian, we hope that this is a place you feel welcome. We also hope that through participating in life with us that you would have deeper discussions, develop meaningful relationships, and move closer to God.

Whoever you are and wherever you’ve been you’re welcome at Summit.
